The Eight Commandment (God's Gift of Good...
You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
What does this mean?
We should fear and love God so that we do not tell lies about our neighbor, betray him, slander him, or hurt his reputation, but defend him, speak well of him, and explain everything in the kindest way.

Payphones and church practice
Does your church have a pay phone?
I don’t mean literally. Even when you could find payphones everywhere, you normally did not find them at church.
Florida reports that 18 per cent of payphones are being taken out this year. Landline telephone companies lost 1 million customers last year. Even the wireless market is getting saturated - fewer and fewer new contracts every year as we get...

Anne Rice and the Lutheran Problem with "I Like...
Apparently yesterday, famous novelist Anne Rice who became a Christian late in life has now said that lateR in life she is now “quitting being a Christian”. Also interesting is her statement that she remains committed to Christ, but not to Christianity. In other words, she’s still a Christian (in that she appears to be retaining her faith in Christ), but a confused one. And...

We’re not talking about “poor college students” in the way that we used to: ramen noodles instead of decent...

Punditry and the LCMS
I just got back from the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod National Youth Gathering (#lcmsnyg). I was there along with 25,000 other Lutheran youth and adult leaders. My role was officially to promote LCMS Campus Ministry, and through that I got to talk to a LOT of Lutheran youth from across the United States. It was heartening.
What was disheartening was returning to “internet land”...
